Answer - English
Question - Which teacher group of is focused by Green Teacher Programme?
Answer - The programme focuses on teachers of standard VI to VIII.
Question - When does the programme start? What is the programme duration? When does it end?
Answer - In principle the Programme cycle matches with schools cycle to ensure that teachers find it convenient to take on the programme. In most parts of the country, the programme typically follows a June/July to May/June; Thus the Green Teacher Porgramme is a 12 months programme.
Question - How much time teacher will have to spend on project work a) with students b) On their own for research, writing and preparing the project?
Answer - Participants need to complete one project with students for submission. On average two periods every week are required for four months to complete it which totals to nearly 34 periods. Apart from that teacher needs nearly ten days of time to research, write and prepare the project work for submission.
The project may be started after first or second contact session as feasible by the teacher and school administration. But it will create more impact on children and school if it is started after first contact session.
Question - How much time teacher will have to spend with students to carry out assignments?
Answer - Participants need to complete ten assignments with students for submission. According to feedback received by us and by seeing the assignments submitted, we may say that on average two periods every week are required for two to three weeks for completing one assignment which totals to 16 to 24 periods for all assignments, spread in two to three months. Apart from that teachers need nearly eight days of time to write and prepare the ten assignments.
Question - How much self study time is needed to study and understand the study material?
Answer - Participant will approximately need 2 hrs / day for about 20 days/month i.e. 40 hours in a month on the study material. The four modules then can be comfortably finished over a period of 6 months. So you need nearly 240 hours of self study time to study and understand the material, although it may differ from teacher to teacher because of their educational background.

Answer - Over 200 teachers have completed the programme from six study centers situated across the country.
Question - How old is this programme?
Answer - The Programme was launched in the year 2005
Question - How is the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) associated with this programme?
Answer - COL have supported development of the programme academically, technically [from the Open and distance learning (ODL) perspective] and financially and the programme is now offered as a collaborative of COL – CEE.

Answer -

Answer -

Answer -
  • Diploma in EE from a pioneer organization which is a Centre of Excellence in EE.
  • The programme will strengthen their professional standing and broaden scope as a subject expert or resource person in the developing field of environment education (EE).
  • The programme will help them how to utilize interactive and experiential teaching – learning methodologies for transacting EE effectively and provide an opportunity to share their expertise with other teaching professionals and educators.
  • The diploma may become a stepping stone towards pursuing other degrees or research programmes in the field of EE and communication.
Question - How many students will be benefited by the programme?
Answer - During the course it is envisioned that the teacher will work with at least one class continuously for completing various assignments and project. Apart from that the project undertaken by the teacher will create impact on other students of the school as well.

As the focus is on skill building of teacher ultimately all the students being taught by the teacher would benefit.
